Luxurious Gold Bathroom Design: Tips and Ideas

Luxurious Gold Bathroom Design: Tips and Ideas…… Gold is increasingly becoming a statement of intent. A way of expressing our aspirations and personal taste.

With all the sanitary ware and decorative options on the market, we can make the bathroom show our own individuality in a practical and luxurious way. It is the one space in the modern home that is private, dedicated to wellness (both body and mind) and luxurious pampering. Gold too is synonymous with luxury.

If we think about the bathroom as the precious jewel in our home, then the gold bathroom takes on a special significance.

Luxurious Gold Bathroom Design: Tips and Ideas…

With the gold bathroom sometimes less is more. Gold is a precious metal and overegging the omelette can be counterproductive. As a way of drawing the eye, nothing compares to gold, but too much and it just fades into the background.

The best ways to feature gold in the bathroom depend on the other materials used throughout the space. With this article, we are going to examine how to highlight gold under the next categories:

  • Gold bathroom lighting and accessories
  • Gold bathroom taps and shower fittings
  • Sanitary ware finishes and mosaic tiles
  • Plumbing installations

Accessories are the key to unlocking the potential of the gold bathroom. The most popular ones include towel rails, toilet roll and brush holders, shelving, mirror frames, etc. Brushed gold bathroom taps, for example, have a flat but intriguing presence. But don’t forget lighting and elements of furniture and sanitary ware like Wash Hand Basins. They are also excellent ways to introduce gold.

Gold bathroom accessories work best when seen against plain, or monochrome finishes. Marble effect wall tiles, stone and plain ceramic are good options. The gold should really stand out like a piece of jewellery against the skin. That way it draws the eye as well as fulfilling a practical role.

A gold light feature can really pull a bathroom space together because gold can accentuate traditional or modern style décor. A vintage light fitting in gold never looks out of place whether it be Victorian era or Mid-century modern.

A small stool, storage unit or side table in gold just be enough, when joint with a complimentary tile, to add a luxurious element. These additions are not only decorative but give handy ways to store and keep toiletries close to hand in a gold bathroom.

There are two popular categories of gold finish. The brushed gold finish, which is matt, and the polished gold finish, which is shiny. Brushed gold looks very contemporary since polished gold was more popular in the past. So, depending on the style you are creating, one or the other will be more suitable in your gold bathroom.

Mixing and matching can be a great way to draw attention to gold taps in the bathroom. Like the example above, where a period-style WHB is paired with a brushed gold finish for the taps, sink plug and even the soap dispenser. The effect is visually powerful, especially against the white ceramic.

Modern and Durable Large Porcelain Tiles | East Lancs Tile Centre

These Large format porcelain tiles have a minimalist, streamlined and modern look, which expands your space and creates a cohesive look. These tiles have patterns remarkably like natural materials like limestone, marble, granite, wood, and many more.

Modern and Durable Large Porcelain Tiles are insensitive to solar light and to changes in temperature: constant exposure to solar rays does not alter its colour, it is frost-proof and fireproof, it is a safe material, with a very low probability of cracking and if fire does not produce gas or toxic fumes.

Porcelain tiles are denser than ceramic, and so less porous. Meaning they’re harder, so more durable and absorb less water. This makes them more suited to high footfall areas which will see heavy use.

New Large Porcelain Tiles

One of the primary drawbacks of large format tiles is that they must skilled professionals for installation. Because these tiles are larger and heavier than standard tiles, they can be aliitle difficult to handle and install. This means that installation costs can be higher than with smaller tiles but look incredible when installed.

Porcelain tiles are one of the most practically designed tiles that are not strong but aesthetically perfect. They do not chip easily and the cases of such damage, if any, are very rare and most can be avoided with extra care.

This particular range vis on offer at only £22.99m2 for a 120x60cm format & only £19.99m2 for a 60x60cm format.

Polished Porcelain Tiles: Definition and Benefits

Posted on

Polished Porcelain Tiles: Definition and Benefits, as one expects, have a gleaming finish and a smooth texture. Moreover, polished tiles are often available in two varieties: glazed and unglazed.

On the other hand, Unpolished tiles typically have rustic surfaces and do not exist in glazed and unglazed types like polished tiles.

What is a polished porcelain ?

Polished porcelain tiles: Once these tiles have been fired, they undergo a rigorous polishing process using soluble salts, so that the tile is finely honed and smoothed until it bears an impressive high-gloss sheen, in much the same way marble, granite and other natural stones are polished.

What is the difference between polished and glazed tiles?

Polishing glaze tile has a glaze on the surface, which improves penetration and brightness but decreases wear resistance compared to polished tiles. Because polished tiles have a thicker, more durable surface, the abrasion resistance is substantially lower and the glazing surface is glazed.

Does polished porcelain scratch easily?

Don’t scratch easily: Polished tiles are scratch-resistant, especially the unglazed version. Considering the textured and natural finish on unglazed polished tiles, scratches don’t show easily.

Polished porcelain tiles look incredibly wonderful and complement almost all types of furniture and décor. Besides, they are also popular with designers and homeowners, and they are a low-cost tile range

Large Grey Bathroom Wall Tiles

Large Grey Bathroom Wall Tiles are considered to be any tile with one side longer than 15″. Since their introduction into the tile world, large format tile has not only grown in popularity, but also in size. From 24×24 all the way up to 40×120, larger tiles are all the rage (including popular wood-look plank tiles).

Because these tiles are larger than standard tilesthey need fewer grout lines to cover a given space. This creates a smooth and uninterrupted surface that can make any room feel more spacious and elegant. For homeowners who value a modern, minimalist aesthetic, large format tiles are an excellent choice.

Because grout lines are thinner and fewer as part of the layout, Large Grey Bathroom Wall Tiles makes smaller rooms appear bigger when using larger tiles. Large-format tiles make floors look more streamlined – hence, creating the illusion of more space.

Tiling your living room.

First impressions are crucial. Your living room plays a significant role in creating this first impression for your guests. By choosing a unique design of Feature Tiles, you can improve the impression of your home. Additionally, you can create a lasting impression on your guests. It is good if you opt for tiles with neutral colours. We recommend to stick to a classy and elegant look when it comes to your living room. You can give your living room a strikingly real-wood appeal by opting for these kinds of tiles. They are more durable and moisture resistant.

The most important thing when you choose your tiles from our Tile Store Blackburn & Darwen is to keep in mind that it is the first thing that your guests or visitor is going to see so the tile colors should not be the ones that hit in the eye as in very gaudy nor too pale that do not leave any impact on your visitors. The living room wall and flooring should be such that it should complement the other rooms of the house like the kitchen, bathroom, dinning hall as well as the backyard. You also have to take into consideration of choosing a theme that best describes you. You can choose the flooring and the walls with the furniture of the house. The colors should complement each other so that they look great together.

You are lucky if you are blessed with a huge home. If not, you have a material range of Porcelain Tiles. These tiles are made with a fusion of modern, cutting edge technology and high quality compounds which can be ideal for your kitchen. Backsplash tiles are great for keeping the water and foods off and thus it is an ideal tile choice for your kitchen.

How 120 x 60 cm Tiles Create the Illusion of Space

How 120 x 60 cm Tiles Create the Illusion of Space

120 x 60 cm tiles will give a room a larger feeling than 60 cm tile. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of grout lines. The less grout lines, the less busy your floor is and the more expansive it seems. This expansiveness naturally will make your room larger, illustrating how 120 x 60 cm tiles create the illusion of space.

Larger tiles will trick the eye and make a room look bigger, rather than smaller. The main reason for this is that larger tiles reduce the ‘busy’ factor, since smaller tiles, like mosaics (with comparatively more grout lines), will increase how busy the design looks. A small bathroom can actually help from a large tile. With fewer grout lines, the walls and floor are less cluttered and the room visually expands, showing how 120 x 60 cm tiles create the illusion of space.

Durability: The density of porcelain tile makes it more durable than ceramic tile while being less the to wear and tear. This makes it more suitable for commercial use as well as in the home. Water Resistance: Porcelain tile is almost impervious to water compared to ceramic tile, and this adds to how 120 x 60 cm tiles create the illusion of space by making maintenance easier.

Both porcelain tile and ceramic tile are made to sustain decades of high-traffic wear and tear. If installed and maintained well, they can last 50 years or more! Porcelain and ceramic tile are also fairly resistant to elements like water, debris, and stains.

How 120 x 60 cm Tiles Create the Illusion of Space

The surface of most ceramic and porcelain tile does not need to be sealed, although some must a light application of a penetrating sealer to fill the micro pores on the surface of the tile. but, the grout joint between the tiles is usually very porous and made of a cement-based material.

Essential Tips for Selecting Stone and Tiles for Your Kitchen

Posted on

One of the main places in your home to find stone and tiles is the kitchen. Whether you’re in the process of picking out kitchen floor tiles or kitchen wall tiles (or both!), there are pitfalls in which you can fall but easily dodge with a little guidance along the way. Avoid making mistakes choosing tiles to guarantee a cohesive design.

Enter us, and the most common mistakes made when choosing stone and tiles for the kitchen so you can avoid them like the plague.

Patterned Floor Tiles

The first mistake is not the sort that’ll leave you making choices you’ll want to rip up the moment they’re laid, but it’s more of an oversight that too often results in missed tiling opportunities. When choosing tiles, avoid common mistakes to guarantee the best outcome.

One of the most popular wall tile areas in a kitchen is behind the stove – a beautifully decorated splash back is just a few tiles away. But that’s not the only expanse of wall on offer. Unlike in a bathroom where tiling every scrap of wall space works, it can look a bit OTT in a kitchen, but there is a middle ground. Avoid the mistakes of over-tiling when choosing your materials.

Picture a patch of metro tiles in say a pleasing sage green (Shoreline in Sea Kale is a lovely example) behind your hob and then imagine carrying a single strip above your work surface upstand. It’s a look we love because it’s subtle and then carries a fine line of colour throughout the room. Or if you prefer, add a few more rows of tone by tiling up to the height of your kitchen sink’s tap, like we did with the ceramic Shoreline tiles in Gull in this calming kitchen, or create a bespoke tiled area that hides an ugly extractor fan, just like Dan of Dan Lovatt Designs did here with our Bamboo tiles. Remember, avoiding mistakes in choosing tiles can enhance subtle design touches.

So you’ve got tiles you’re happy with in your hallway. You’ve got a majestic black and white chequerboard floor (courtesy perhaps of our Bermago and Zuber limestone tiles that looks the bees knees), but your kitchen flows from your hallway, and now you’re thinking you need to cook in the company of a chequerboard floor too. Right? Avoiding design mistakes when choosing tiles ensures visual harmony.

Wrong. Well, not wrong, if you do choose to continue the same tile as what’s in the adjoining room then it’ll look smart as design continuity always does, but the important thing to note is you don’t have to. Consider mistakes made when choosing tiles to make sure your design is flexible.

Back to that hallway chequerboard example, rather than letting it limit your design options in your kitchen. Instead, be informed by any neighboring floor tiles in the same way you would with wall color and choose a tile that’s sympathetic to it and you’ll still create a sense of flow and order. Being mindful of mistakes when choosing tiles will guarantee a cohesive design strategy.

Sticking to conversations in color, because tiles are often thought of as a material first and foremost, they aren’t always woven into your kitchen’s color palette in the way they should be. Like worktops, people often simply see them as a stone surface that’ll bed into your kitchen whatever happens. It’s crucial to avoid common mistakes choosing tiles that disrupts color continuity in your kitchen.

But tiles are one of your kitchen’s greatest areas of color, texture and even pattern (if you so choose), so to get them looking their best, they should really talk the same language as your cabinet and wall color.

As a working example, see this charcoal grey kitchen by @emmarosestyle. With crisp white walls as a blank canvas, she’s added warmth underfoot with our Marlborough parquet terracotta floor tiles whose tones are repeated in the copper worktop. Deep grey on her cabinets adds depth and then she’s woven in a third hue via her Lyme ceramic green metro tiles in Olive that feel right at home because of her many accents of potted greenery. An example of kitchen floor tiles, wall tiles and paint color working in perfect harmony. Avoiding mistakes when choosing tiles ensures harmonized integration of colors and textures.

So, you’re a sucker for stone – maybe a marble mosaic in a beautiful teardrop or love the idea of a crackle glazed tile in a rich green hue for the walls in your kitchen but you forget that some materials need a little TLC. One of the biggest mistakes people make is not taking care of their stone and tiles – whether it’s a gorgeous terracotta, or a crackle glaze tile, you need to remember to seal them and repeat the sealing drill every year, or so.

YOUR LOCAL TILE SHOP

Your Local Tile Shop, We’ve talked about the importance of shopping local but in light of the 2020 events, the benefits of supporting small businesses have become even more evident.

We’ve witnessed small business owners struggling to provide a living for their families and staff due to the lockdown. As a consequence, unemployment skyrocketed, stores closed for good, morale dropped to a minimum low, communities fell apart…

This explicitly showed us what will happen if the corporations grow to monstrous proportions, and small businesses close their doors.

And if it takes Support Small Business quotes to inspire you to buy a book from the independent bookstore around the corner, and not from Amazon; or to wear handmade knitwear from your neighbour’s modest store, instead from Zara; or shop for tiles at local small businesses ,as opposed to the giant chain branches.

Most of these supporting small business quotes are from anonymous sources and that brings them even more value. Because it means these support small business quotes came from ordinary people like us – people who understand our daily lives – and not billionaires who’ve lost contact with the real world and preach from their glassy towers.

1. A small business is an amazing way to serve and leave an impact on the world you live in.

2. A big business starts small.

3. When you support a small business, you support a dream.

4. When you support handmade you are not just supporting a person, small business, family, our economy; you are purchasing a small part of an artist’s heart.

5. Supporting another person’s success won’t ever damper yours.

6. When you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance.

7. If each of us spent £100 a year more on local businesses instead of chain stores, it would put an extra £15 million a year into our local economy, not only that but it would create thousands more jobs.

8. When you buy from a small business you’re not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage or a student pay for college.

9.  Every small purchase makes a big difference.

10. Support your friend’s business and progression like you support the celebrities that you actually don’t know.

11. You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy local and that’s kind of the same.

12. When you support a small business, you support a dream.

13. Support your friends. Don’t ask for free stuff, pay for it. Go to their shows, be the first to buy their products and promote their ideas.

14. Every time you spend money you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.

15. When you buy something made by a person, there is something special there, and you feel it. The consciousness with which a thing is made is often more important than the thing itself.

16. Today we celebrate side hustles that became main hustles, dreamers that became doers, maxed out credit cards that became thriving businesses, big fails that became big wins, and individuals with ideas that became teams with visions.

17. Giving a gift from a small business is giving a gift twice.

18. The best compliment you can give is a referral.

19. If we want to have these amazing small businesses, we need to actively seek out and support those who put their necks on the line to chase down a dream. Sometimes it may be a bit faster to zip through the drive-through line, but I can almost guarantee that the personal service and higher quality product will be worth the extra minute it may take. It could be a lasting relationship that holds more value in the long run.

20. We need to keep our small businesses healthy in order to keep our economy strong.

21. Celebrity makes £80+ million a year, you will never meet them. You pay them full price or extra for what they sell. A small business owner makes £20K – £30K a year, they live next door, and you want a discount.

22. Small businesses provide the feeling that a real person is behind it all, someone who cares more about giving us a quality product or service, over just taking our hard-earned money.

Conclusion

Of all the business lessons we learned in 2020, supporting small businesses was the most important one. Retailer realised they should find new ways to bring customers through the door. They also armed themselves with a few e-commerce tricks to fight the big names.

Nevertheless, all the efforts would be pointless if the customers don’t see the importance of shopping at small, independent stores. So if you’re a customer, we hope these support small business quotes awakened something noble in you. Your Local Tile Shop.

Blackburn Rovers to Close Riverside Stand for Carabao Cup Clash Against Nottingham Forest

Blackburn Rovers have confirmed they will be closing the Riverside Stand at Ewood Park for the upcoming Carabao Cup fourth round clash against Nottingham Forest.

Rovers host Forest next Wednesday, December 21, in a 7.45pm kick-off. The victors will land a place in the quarter-finals, which are set to take place in early January.

Premier League side Forest are poised to take a big following to Lancashire for next week’s clash. They have sold out the Darwen End, which houses 5,500 supporters.

It appears that the Forest fans will outnumber the Rovers fans on the evening, with the Championship side having sold fewer than 3,500 home tickets at this moment in time. As a result, Rovers have confimed they will not open the Riverside stand and mean home fans will be situated in the Blackburn End and Jack Walker Stand.

A statement on the Rovers website said: “Due to the current forecast attendance for next week’s Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Nottingham Forest, Rovers will not be opening the Riverside Stand for this fixture.

Nottingham Forest fans will occupy the whole of the Darwen End, however with fewer than 3,500 home tickets currently sold, Rovers supporters will be accommodated in the Blackburn End and Jack Walker Stand.

Choosing Anti-Slip Tiles: R9, R10, and R11 Ratings Explained

Posted on

There are a number of things to consider when choosing tiles for a floor space – the colour, the shape, the design. But you should also think about slip resistance, depending on the area you’re tiling. For example, a wet room floor will be covered in water, so it’s important to use an anti slip tile. To find the right anti slip tile for your project, watch out for the anti slip gradings.

So what do the anti slip gradings mean?

The majority of floor tiles these days are given an anti slip rating. This rating comes in the form of an ‘R’ value. The ‘R’ stands for ‘ramp test’. This ‘R’ value ranges from R9, which has a small degree of slip resistance, right up to R13, which is the highest slip resistance. This ‘R’ value shows the degree of slip resistance the tile has.

R13 is the resistance recommended by many professionals for public wet areas such as showers in a changing room and pool surrounds, whereas R9 and R10 values are often used for domestic situations such as bathrooms and kitchens.

R9

<0.2 COF:

Tiles will mostly be smooth glazed matt finish tiles which will record this low value when wet. These tiles are fine for most domestic internal applications, when used in a bathroom a bath mat (or towel) is essential to step on to from the bath or shower.

R10

>0.2 COF<0.4 COF:

Tiles will usually be glazed matt tiles which show these values only when wet, although there may also be a small number of unglazed tiles in this category. Besides domestic bathrooms, where the use of a bathmat is essential, they may be considered for other domestic areas such as kitchens, living areas, hallways, etc.

R11

>0.4 COF<0.7 COF:

Tiles will include both glazed tiles and unglazed tiles. If a tile has this CoF as a minimum, dry and wet, it may be regarded as safe for installations including wet rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, porches, halls, cloakrooms, and living rooms. They may also be used for public areas such as cloakrooms, lavatories, communal showers, swimming pool surrounds, and larger areas such as shopping centres, airport concourses, hotel foyers, public walkways, etc. These tiles are also suitable for external situations if porcelain.
