Blackburn Rovers have confirmed they will be closing the Riverside Stand at Ewood Park for the upcoming Carabao Cup fourth round clash against Nottingham Forest.

Rovers host Forest next Wednesday, December 21, in a 7.45pm kick-off. The victors will land a place in the quarter-finals, which are set to take place in early January.

Premier League side Forest are poised to take a big following to Lancashire for next week’s clash. They have sold out the Darwen End, which houses 5,500 supporters.

It appears that the Forest fans will outnumber the Rovers fans on the evening, with the Championship side having sold fewer than 3,500 home tickets at this moment in time. As a result, Rovers have confimed they will not open the Riverside stand and mean home fans will be situated in the Blackburn End and Jack Walker Stand.

A statement on the Rovers website said: “Due to the current forecast attendance for next week’s Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Nottingham Forest, Rovers will not be opening the Riverside Stand for this fixture.

Nottingham Forest fans will occupy the whole of the Darwen End, however with fewer than 3,500 home tickets currently sold, Rovers supporters will be accommodated in the Blackburn End and Jack Walker Stand.
