Spanish Porcelain Tiles today include both the traditional and more cutting-edge contemporary options that can add a decorative flourish to home décor.

This article provides tips and advice on how to feature SpanishPorcelain Tiles in your home. We include photos and tile samples to inspire you to bring Mediterranean chic into your home.

Because of certain religious practices, representation of the human body in art and architecture was prohibited. Decorative treatments in architecture and design, include rich geometric patterns and intricate mathematical inspired motifs.

Spanish Porcelain Tiles

Spanish Porcelain Tiles

The influence of this Islamic style is still legible today within the built environment around Spain. It also survives as a popular decorative treatment in homes not only in Spain but across the globe.

Spanish Porcelain Tiles are perfect for those areas of the home where resistance to humidity and wear and tear are important, with their easy maintenance, this makes Spanish tiles ideal for areas like a kitchen backsplash, bathroom walls, shower cubicles, etc. If we want to prove a coherent aesthetic throughout the home, then few options are equal to Spanish tiles, thanks to the sheer variety of options. The effect can be different depending on the pattern, and the colouring yet shares a basic stylistic common denominator.

Heritage Emerald Ceramic Tiles

Heritage Emerald Ceramic Tiles

We recommend flooring areas like the entrance hall, pantry, kitchen and bathroom with Spanish tiles because of their unparalleled hard-wearing qualities. The Spanish Porcelain Tile for floors are ideal for these areas with a lot of traffic. Spanish tiles also have the look to create a good impression as well as easy maintenance.

Porcelain is the ideal material for floors. No other material matches its properties for hygiene, easy maintenance and resistance to wear and tear.  The Spanish porcelain tile brings a cool Mediterranean aesthetic to floors.

This example exudes chic elegance with the least of effort. A plain tile forms a border to a contemporary mismatched style tile pattern. Compatible with underfloor heating, this fresh and clean look exudes Mediterranean cool.

Modern and Durable Large Porcelain Tiles | East Lancs Tile Centre

These Large format porcelain tiles have a minimalist, streamlined and modern look, which expands your space and creates a cohesive look. These tiles have patterns remarkably like natural materials like limestone, marble, granite, wood, and many more.

Modern and Durable Large Porcelain Tiles are insensitive to solar light and to changes in temperature: constant exposure to solar rays does not alter its colour, it is frost-proof and fireproof, it is a safe material, with a very low probability of cracking and if fire does not produce gas or toxic fumes.

Porcelain tiles are denser than ceramic, and so less porous. Meaning they’re harder, so more durable and absorb less water. This makes them more suited to high footfall areas which will see heavy use.

New Large Porcelain Tiles

One of the primary drawbacks of large format tiles is that they must skilled professionals for installation. Because these tiles are larger and heavier than standard tiles, they can be aliitle difficult to handle and install. This means that installation costs can be higher than with smaller tiles but look incredible when installed.

Porcelain tiles are one of the most practically designed tiles that are not strong but aesthetically perfect. They do not chip easily and the cases of such damage, if any, are very rare and most can be avoided with extra care.

This particular range vis on offer at only £22.99m2 for a 120x60cm format & only £19.99m2 for a 60x60cm format.

Choosing Anti-Slip Tiles: R9, R10, and R11 Ratings Explained

Posted on

There are a number of things to consider when choosing tiles for a floor space – the colour, the shape, the design. But you should also think about slip resistance, depending on the area you’re tiling. For example, a wet room floor will be covered in water, so it’s important to use an anti slip tile. To find the right anti slip tile for your project, watch out for the anti slip gradings.

So what do the anti slip gradings mean?

The majority of floor tiles these days are given an anti slip rating. This rating comes in the form of an ‘R’ value. The ‘R’ stands for ‘ramp test’. This ‘R’ value ranges from R9, which has a small degree of slip resistance, right up to R13, which is the highest slip resistance. This ‘R’ value shows the degree of slip resistance the tile has.

R13 is the resistance recommended by many professionals for public wet areas such as showers in a changing room and pool surrounds, whereas R9 and R10 values are often used for domestic situations such as bathrooms and kitchens.

R9

<0.2 COF:

Tiles will mostly be smooth glazed matt finish tiles which will record this low value when wet. These tiles are fine for most domestic internal applications, when used in a bathroom a bath mat (or towel) is essential to step on to from the bath or shower.

R10

>0.2 COF<0.4 COF:

Tiles will usually be glazed matt tiles which show these values only when wet, although there may also be a small number of unglazed tiles in this category. Besides domestic bathrooms, where the use of a bathmat is essential, they may be considered for other domestic areas such as kitchens, living areas, hallways, etc.

R11

>0.4 COF<0.7 COF:

Tiles will include both glazed tiles and unglazed tiles. If a tile has this CoF as a minimum, dry and wet, it may be regarded as safe for installations including wet rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, porches, halls, cloakrooms, and living rooms. They may also be used for public areas such as cloakrooms, lavatories, communal showers, swimming pool surrounds, and larger areas such as shopping centres, airport concourses, hotel foyers, public walkways, etc. These tiles are also suitable for external situations if porcelain.

Choosing the Right Tiles for a Light and Spacious Bathroom

Style of Tiles make the bathroom feel more spacious

Style of Tiles. Depending on the size of the bathroom, black can be used at different points in the room to keep a sensation of lightness. If you have a large enough room, you can combine walls and fittings in dark colours with touches of white in the sink, on the taps and on the towels for the shower.

For example, the Architect black finish unit by Noken can be paired with the counter top basin from the same collection in white and Round Chrome taps.
Another important consideration is to have a natural light source that counterbalances the dark fittings and creates a brighter effect.

In smaller rooms, it is better to use light colours on walls and floors. Wood can create the right balance with dark fittings and give a sensation of warmth. Style of Tiles.

Black is a neutral classic, but you need to strike the right balance when furnishing the home so as not to create a dark effect. Dark furniture and fittings work in any room in the home, especially bathrooms and kitchens. Here are some suggestions for choosing the most suitable designs from East Lancs Tile Centre.
